A SYRIAS MISTAKE: 25 QUOTES

About The Coming War with Syria Every American Should See By Clash Daily / 31 August 2013 / 158 Comments If the American people are going to stop this war, they need to do it now.  The following are 25 quotes about the coming war with Syria that every American should see…
1. Barack Obama, during an interview with Charlie Savage on December 20, 2007: “The President does not have power under the Constitution to unilaterally authorize a military attack in a situation that does not involve stopping an actual or imminent threat to the nation.”
2. Joe Biden, during a television interview in 2007: “The president has no constitutional authority … to take this nation to war … unless we’re attacked or unless there is proof we are about to be attacked.  And if he does, if he does, I would move to impeach him.”
3. U.S. Representative Ted Poe: “Mr. President, you must call Congress back from recess immediately to take a vote on a military strike on Syria. Assad may have crossed a red line but that does not give you the authority to redline the Constitution.”
4. U.S. Representative Kurt Schrader: “I see no convincing evidence that this is an imminent threat to the United States of America.”
5. U.S. Representative Barbara Lee: “While we understand that as commander-in-chief you have a constitutional obligation to protect our national interests from direct attack, Congress has the constitutional obligation and power to approve military force, even if the United States or its direct interests (such as its embassies) have not been attacked or threatened with an attack.”
6. The New York Times: “American officials said Wednesday there was no ‘smoking gun’ that directly links President Bashar al-Assad to the attack, and they tried to lower expectations about the public intelligence presentation.”
7. U.S. Senator Rand Paul: “The war in Syria has no clear national security connection to the United States and victory by either side will not necessarily bring in to power people friendly to the United States.”
8. U.S. Senator Tim Kaine: “I definitely believe there needs to be a vote.”
9. Donald Rumsfeld: “There really hasn’t been any indication from the administration as to what our national interest is with respect to this particular situation.”
10. Robert Fisk: “If Barack Obama decides to attack the Syrian regime, he has ensured – for the very first time in history – that the United States will be on the same side as al-Qa’ida.”
11. Former congressman Dennis Kucinich: “So what, we’re about to become al-Qaeda’s air force now?”
12. Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Muallem: “We have two options: either to surrender, or to defend ourselves with the means at our disposal. The second choice is the best: we will defend ourselves.”
13. A Syrian Army officer: “We have more than 8,000 suicide martyrs within the Syrian army, ready to carry out martyrdom operations at any moment to stop the Americans and the British. I myself am ready to blow myself up against US aircraft carriers to stop them attacking Syria and its people.”
14. Khalaf Muftah, a senior Ba’ath Party official: “We have strategic weapons and we’re capable of responding.”
15. An anonymous senior Hezbollah source: “A large-scale Western strike on Syria will plunge Lebanon virtually and immediately into the inferno of a war with Israel.” 16. Ali Larjiani, the speaker of the Iranian parliament: “…the country which has been destroyed by the terrorists during the past two years will not sustain so much damage as the warmongers will receive in this war.”
17. Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei: “Starting this fire will be like a spark in a large store of gunpowder, with unclear and unspecified outcomes and consequences”
18. General Mohammad Ali Jafari, chief of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards: (an attack on Syria) “means the immediate destruction of Israel.”
19. Israeli President Shimon Peres: “Israel is not and has not been involved in the civil war in Syria, but if they try to hurt us, we will respond with full force.”
20. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu: “We are not part of the civil war in Syria, but if we identify any attempt whatsoever to harm us, we will respond and we will respond in strength.”
21. The Jerusalem Post: “The lines between Hezbollah and the Syrian regime are so blurred that Israel will hold Damascus responsible if Hezbollah bombards Israel in the coming days, Israeli officials indicated on Wednesday.”
22. Ron Paul: “The danger of escalation with Russia is very high”
23. Pat Buchanan: “The sole beneficiary of this apparent use of poison gas against civilians in rebel-held territory appears to be the rebels, who have long sought to have us come in and fight their war.”
24. Retired U.S. General James Mattis: “We have no moral obligation to do the impossible and harm our children’s future because we think we just have to do something.”
25. Syrian refugee Um Ahmad: “Isn’t it enough, all the violence and fighting that we already have in the country, now America wants to bomb us, too?” Read more officialteapartyusa.com

Mendiondo.
&&

House Democrats, GOP want vote on Syria
By San Francisco Chronicle August 31, 2013 6:55

WASHINGTON — President Obama faces a rebellion against military action in Syria that has united the most liberal and conservative members of the California House delegation.
More than 190 members from both parties in the House have signed letters demanding a vote in Congress to authorize force — one that it is not clear the administration would win.
“The prime minister of the United Kingdom went to the elected representatives of that country to ask them their opinion,” said Rep. John Garamendi, D-Walnut Grove (Sacramento County). “The president of the United States should have sufficient respect” for Congress to do the same, he said.
The rebellion isolates the administration even as Secretary of State John Kerry pleaded Friday for action and Obama called Syria’s use of chemical weapons a threat to U.S. security.
Kerry said the Assad government killed least 1,429 people, including 426 children, in a recent attack.
Two likely Obama supporters are San Franciscans: Sen. Dianne Feinstein, the California Democrat who chairs the Senate Intelligence Committee, and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi.
Feinstein said Kerry’s speech “should stir the conscience of the world.”
Pelosi said she “expressed my appreciation for the measured, targeted and limited approach the president may be considering.”
But she agreed with House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, that “the case needs to be made to the American people.”
Banned weapons
Chemical weapons were banned under international law after World War I. But Obama faces an American public, Congress and U.S. allies exhausted by two long, costly U.S. wars in the Middle East, including an invasion of Iraq based on a false claim that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction.
The British Parliament voted Thursday against getting involved in Syria.
“We cannot accept a world where women and children and innocent civilians are gassed on a terrible scale,” Obama told reporters Friday.
“This kind of attack threatens our national security interests by violating well-established international norms against the use of chemical weapons, by further threatening friends and allies of ours in the region like Israel and Turkey and Jordan, and it increases the risk that chemical weapons will be used in the future and fall into the hands of terrorists who might use them against us.”
Limited strike
Obama said he had not yet made a decision but implied that a limited strike was imminent while promising there would be no “boots on the ground” and no long-term campaign.
“I also heard the war in Iraq was going to be over in 60 days,” said Garamendi. “And I heard people say there were weapons of mass destruction that were going to be coming at the United States. I am a serious skeptic when people want to go to war, whether it’s President Bush or President Obama.”
Several Bay Area Democrats joined a letter by Rep. Scott Rigell, R-Va., that strongly opposes U.S. intervention “when no direct threat to the United States exists and without prior congressional authorization.”
Thinking it through
Among the signatories: conservative firebrand Tom McClintock, R-Elk Grove (Sacramento County) and Silicon Valley Democrats Zoe Lofgren and Anna Eshoo.
Rigell said he could have gotten more signatures but was in a hurry to send it before Obama ordered a strike.
“This is a serious moment,” said Rep. Barbara Lee, D-Oakland, who circulated a similar letter signed by 56 liberals. Lee was the only House member who voted against authorizing force after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
“None of us who are insisting on a congressional vote believe that this should go unnoticed, unchecked,” Lee said. “The question is, does the military solution stop this from happening. What are the unintended consequences? Will there be more carnage, more deaths, more attacks? What does this do in terms of regional implications and retaliation?”
Lee said the administration should hold off to allow Congress, on summer recess until Tuesday, to return for a debate and vote. “It’s our legal and constitutional responsibility,” she said.
Lofgren and Democratic Reps. Mike Honda of San Jose, George Miller of Martinez, Jackie Speier of Hillsborough, Jared Huffman of San Rafael and Sam Farr of Carmel signed the Lee letter.
Rep. Mike Thompson, D-St. Helena, said he’s not sure Obama would win a vote. While Thompson did not sign a letter, he wants a vote, saying Obama should wait until Congress returns.
“I don’t think another couple of days is going to make or break anything,” Thompson said.
Huffman said he is “very troubled” by the way the administration is proceeding.
“I think we need to learn from our mistakes in the past,” Huffman said. “Clearly something should be done, but just because something should be done doesn’t mean anything can be accepted.”
Seeking global coalition
Huffman said Obama should make his case to Congress and build an international coalition.
“It may take a little time, but it’s something we should be working on,” Huffman said. “Unfortunately, I see us bypassing these hard steps and seemingly headed toward unilateral action.”
Sen. Barbara Boxer, also a California Democrat, issued a statement saying, “I believe those who used these horrific weapons to cause so much human suffering must be held accountable.”

Are we ready to go to war with Russia over Syria? Are we sure we want to start World War III?

By Dark PolitricksThis is the question we should be debating when we talk about Syria, especially after this latest chemical weapon attack. So far the claims that the attack was carried out by President Assad’s forceshave not been proved and seeing that the history of previous claims has actually led to the door of the rebels we should be wary about jumping in head first. Why President Assad would attack defenceless woman and children with chemical weapons instead of the rebel forces I have no idea.He knows that Obama and the west has made “chemical weapons” their red line and even though we have backtracked from storming into Syria on previous occasions we have been funding and supporting the rebels covertly for some time now. However with politicians in the USA, UK and France all getting war crazy after the latest attack we should be very wary of attacking Syria without 100% proof that:a) Assad was behind the attacks and,b) We are prepared to see high-tech Russian made missiles flying all over the middle east.Rep. Eliot Engel, D-N.Y., the top Democrat on the House Foreign Relations Committee, is telling TV stations that Obama should ignore the War Powers Act, as he did over Libya and go straight into Syria first and ask Congress for permission later. And the UK’s foreign secretary, William Hague, is indicating that the axis of war,USA, UK and France could go it alone in Syria without consent from the UN.He told the BBC today that:“Diplomacy has not worked in Syria” and that:
“We, the United States, many other countries including France, are clear that we can’t allow the idea in the 21st century that chemical weapons can be used with impunity,” as well as implying that military action could be taken “without complete unity on the UN Security Council” . He also stressed that such action would be “in accordance with international law”.
He also parroted the official anti-Assad line, that has yet to be proven, that the main suspect behind the attack is indeed the Syrian regime and added there was “no other plausible explanation”.Obviously this is biased and playing to one point of view and totally ignores past facts and uncomfortable truths about the nature of the rebels who he seems so eager to back in Syria. An earlier independent UN investigation into the use of chemical weapons by the former Swiss attorney-general Ms Del Ponte suggested that previous chemical weapon attacks were carried out by Syrian rebels NOT the forces of President Assad. She claimed that there was “strong, concrete suspicions but not yet incontrovertible proof” that the rebels had used the nerve gas Sarin. However this point of view was obviously dismissed out of hand by the axis of war as it didn’t fit their desired outcome.I can only suspect that any new “independent” investigators sent to examine the recent claims of a chemical weapon attack have been picked more “thoroughly” this time. This comes on top of a recent raid by Turkish security forces who found a 2 kg cylinder filled with sarin gas after searching the homes of Al-Nusra Syrian militants. The raid was carried out in the southern provinces of Adana and Mersia and the gas was allegedly going to be used to carry out a chemical attack in the southern Turkish city of Adana.Russia Today, although not exactly fair and biased when it comes to their allies, as is the BBC, FOX or CNN, recently reported that the Syrian army had found a huge chemical weapons factory just outside Damascus.Obviously this news wasn’t reported much on western TV.We also have proof that talk of a “false flag” attack to pin blame on Assad and make an attack on Syria possible is not so far-fetched after all.Hacked emails from defense contractor Britam revealed a plan which was apparently“approved by Washington” and funded by Qatar, to stage a chemical weaponsattack in Syria and blame it on the Assad regime. This false flag attack is something many people have warned about and it would provide the war mongers the perfect excuse to start their next war of distraction. If you haven’t seen this point of view being espoused on mainstream media then you are getting your news from the wrong sources, alternative media sites have been talking about this possibility for years now.I most recently talked about our hypocrisy in supporting al-Qaeda linked terrorists in Syria, which follows on from our support of them in Libya, Kosovo and back into time.  It seems we are fond of using al-Qaeda as the bogeyman to strip our liberties at home but support them in any way possible to destabilise our enemies abroad.Washington’s Blog gave a great breakdown on the doubt cast about the recentchemical weapons attack recently and included quotes from experts in chemical weapons use.
John Hart, head of the Chemical and Biological Security Project at Stockholm International Peace Research Institute said he had not seen the telltale evidence in the eyes of the victims that would be compelling evidence of chemical weapons use.“Of the videos that I’ve seen for the last few hours, none of them show pinpoint pupils… this would indicate exposure to organophosphorus nerve agents,” he said.Gwyn Winfield, editor of CBRNe World magazine, which specialises inchemical weapons issues, said the evidence did not suggest that the chemicals used were of the weapons-grade that the Syrian army possesses in its stockpiles.“We’re not seeing reports that doctors and nurses… are becoming fatalities, so that would suggest that the toxicity of it isn’t what we would consider military sarin. It may well be that it is a lower-grade,” Winfield told AFP.
Even the Israeli paper Haaretz cast doubts on the Syrian army being behind the attack.
Western experts on chemical warfare who have examined at least part of the footage are skeptical that weapons-grade chemical substances were used.Dan Kaszeta, a former officer of the U.S. Army’s Chemical Corps and a leading private consultant, pointed out a number of details absent from the footage so far: “None of the people treating the casualties or photographing them are wearing any sort of chemical-warfare protective gear,” he says, “and despite that, none of them seem to be harmed.” This would seem to rule out most types of military-grade chemical weapons.Additional questions also remain unanswered, especially regarding the timing of the attack, being that it occurred on the exact same day that a team of UN inspectors was in Damascus to investigate earlier claims ofchemical weapons use. It is also unclear what tactical goal the Syrian army would have been trying to achieve, when over the last few weeks it has managed to push back the rebels who were encroaching on central areas of the capital. But if this was not a chemical weapons attack, what then caused the deaths of so many people without any external signs of trauma?
So it seems that despite doubts by many, the axis of war are scheming and getting ready it seems to launch another war in breach of international law. However we should be thinking twice about any such moves as the consequence of such a hasty action could be huge. This could be the “big war of distraction” that many have been waiting for or expecting to happen for some time now.Russia has already claimed it would supply advanced missile systems to Syria including missiles that “never miss their target”, and whilst Putin has claimed that Israel wouldn’t be attacked if they stayed out of the conflict it is obvious by their attacks into Syria so far that this would be unlikely. Therefore a full-scale war with Iran, Syria, Hezbollah and maybe Russia on one side, with the axis of war, Israel, al-Nusra Front, al-Qaeda and the Free Syrian Army on the other seems likely.Even I had to read that sentence a few times when I wrote it!Are we really prepared to fight alongside al-Qaeda linked rebels? The same people we blame for 9.11 and the war on terror? Are we prepared to go to war to support the same sort of people who beheaded a UK soldier, Lee Rigby, on the streets of London only months back? Are we prepared to send our sons and daughters into foreign lands to die for people like these?Remember it is very much 50/50 whether or not Russia will play nice this time. They are extremley pissed about being duped over Libya and Syria is a much stronger ally than either Iraq or Iran.Putin has passed on diplomatic messages to the axis of war claiming that they will supply weapons that have never been seen in the Middle East before. These will include top of the range, S-400 missile systems. They have a range of over 400 miles and the system is considered more than a decade ahead of the most advanced US counterpart. Syria is already, along with Iran, likely to have the olderS-300 missile system installed and ready for use.
Russian S-400 Missile System
Russian Barrel 24 Launchers
It seems that years ago the Soviets and then Russians, adopted a new tactic, instead of the cold war, gun for gun, tank for tank race with NATO. Instead of building and maintaining a huge expensive arsenal they instead looked for weaknesses in their opponents defences and then came up with ways to exploit them.It seems that with their new range of missiles that they may have done just that. From talk on various military and defence sites it does seem that the Russian’s do have some of the top anti-ship missile technology available on the planet at the moment.Missiles such as the SS-N-22 “Sunburn” which has a speed of Mach 2.5 or 1500 miles an hour, uses stealth technology and has a range of up to 130 miles. They also have the newer “Yakhonts“,  SSN-X-26 cruise missile which has a range of 185 miles and could make all US / NATO ships in the Persian Gulf or Mediterranean vulnerable to attack. These missiles are so fast, and fly so close to the water that there is every chance any US defence system wouldn’t be able to destroy them in time.Whilst the US has been installing new anti-aircraft missile defence systems the missiles they are likely to face in combat have never been tested in a real life situation.Despite the talk of Russian missile superiority across the web I am sure that with the amount of money the USA spends on its military it hasn’t just sat back and just allowed the Russians to implement super weapons that could potentially defeat them in battle. The US has most certainly been hard at work putting tax payers money to good use on it’s own super weapons. Therefore until the time comes when the US faces a Sunburn or two in the Med, theoretical debates on defence system / military websites will be just that. However despite the two armies never having actually “faced off”, so to speak, if the war in Syria heats up enough we might be crazy enough to see who’s missile systems really are the best. Are we willing to risk a world power face off just to test the theory of who’s missile is bigger and better? Are we really willing to risk a possible World War just to support a civil war we have no right being involved in?Are we prepared to be called “hypocrites” again for breaching international law, ignoring the UN and choosing who can and can’t start wars across the world? And do we really want to risk a major war all on unproven evidence of a chemical weapons attack that in all likelihood was a staged attack by the rebels? It seems that whenever a big peace talk, convention or inspection in Syria is about to happen a new “major crime against humanity” just happens to occur. Is this just luck or  to pin the blame on Assad?are the Syrian rebels trying to force our hand by using false flag attacksBefore we are willing to risk the lives of millions shouldn’t our politicians be 100% sure that their facts over this possible chemical attack are correct first? http://www.darkpolitricks.com/2013/08/are-we-ready-to-go-to-war-with-russia-over-syria/

LEAKED DOCUMENTS REVEAL US SEES ISRAEL AS A SPYING THREAT Friday, August 30, 2013

The Obama administration views Israel as one of the top spying threats facing its intelligence services, leaked documents reveal. A secret budget request obtained by The Washington Post from former NSA contractor Edward Snowden lumps Israel alongside U.S. foes Iran and Cuba as “key targets” for U.S. counterintelligence efforts. The document suggests Israel does not believe U.S. assurances that its interests are aligned with Israel’s on crucial issues such as Iran and peace talks with the Palestinians. “To further safeguard our classified networks, we continue to strengthen insider threat detection capabilities across the Community,” reads the FY 2013 congressional budget justification for intelligence programs. “In addition, we are investing in target surveillance and offensive CI [counterintelligence] against key targets, such as China, Russia, Iran, Israel, Pakistan and Cuba.” The White House and the Israeli Embassy did not respond to requests for comment.

Turkey finds sarin gas in homes of suspected Syrian Islamists – reports
Published time: May 30, 2013 16:56  Edited time: May 31, 2013 12:02Get short URL

Turkish security forces found a 2kg cylinder with sarin gas after searching the homes of Syrian militants from the Al-Qaeda linked Al-Nusra Front who were previously detained, Turkish media reports. The gas was reportedly going to be used in a bomb.
The sarin gas was found in the homes of suspected Syrian Islamists detained in the southern provinces of Adana and Mersia following a search by Turkish police on Wednesday, reports say. The gas was allegedly going to be used to carry out an attack in the southern Turkish city of Adana.
On Monday, Turkish special anti-terror forces arrested 12 suspected members of the Al-Nusra Front, the Al-Qaeda affiliated group which has been dubbed “the most aggressive and successful arm” of the Syrian rebels. The group was designated a terrorist organization by the United States in December.
Police also reportedly found a cache of weapons, documents and digital data which will be reviewed by police.
Following the searches, five of those detained were released following medical examinations at the Forensic Medicine Institution Adana. Seven suspects remain in custody. Turkish authorities are yet to comment on the arrests.
Russia reacted strongly to the incident, calling for a thorough investigation into the detention of Syrian militants
in possession of sarin gas.
“We are extremely concerned with media reports. Russia believes that the use of any chemical weapons is absolutely
inadmissible,” Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Alexander Lukashevich said on Thursday.
In a separate incident in Adana, police reportedly received intelligence that an explosive-laden vehicle had entered the town of Adana on Thursday, the Taraf daily reports.
Ankara has attempted to bolster the Syrian opposition without becoming embroiled in the Syrian civil war, a policy which Damascus claims lead to the deadliest act of terrorism on Turkish soil.
On May 11, 51 people were killed and 140 injured after two car bombs exploded in the Turkish town of Reyhanli, located near the country’s border with Syria.A dozen Turkish nationals have been charged in the twin bombings, and Ankara has accused Damascus of helping the suspects carry out the attack.
“This incident was carried out by an organization which is in close contact to pro-regime groups in Syria and I say this very clearly, with the Syrian Mukhabarat [intelligence agency],” Interior Minister Muammer Guler said.
Syria’s Information Minister Omran Zoubi denied any link the attack, saying his country “did not commit and would never commit such an act because our values would not allow that”.Zoubi further charged the Turkish government had facilitated the flow of arms, explosives, funds and fighters across the country’s border into Syria, claiming that that Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his party bear direct responsibility [for the attack].”
Reports of chemical weapons use by both Damascus and the Syrian opposition have surrounded the conflict in Syria for months.
In this image made available by the Syrian News Agency (SANA) on March 19, 2013, a man is brought to a hospital in the Khan al-Assal region in the northern Aleppo province, as Syria’s government accused rebel forces of using chemical weapons for the first time (AFP Photo)
In March, the Syrian government invited the United Nations to investigate possible chemical weapons use in the Khan al-Assal area of rural Aleppo. Military experts and officials said a chemical agent, most likely sarin, was used in the attack which killed 26 people, including government forces.
Damascus claimed Al-Qaeda linked fighters were behind the attack, further alleging Turkey had a hand in the incident.
“The rocket came from a placed controlled by the terrorist and which is located close to the Turkish territory. One can assume that the weapon came from Turkey,” Zoabi said in an interview with Interfax news agency.
US President Barack Obama has warned any confirmed use of chemical weapons by Damascus would cross a “red line” which would prompt further action. Both Washington and London claimed there was growing evidence that such chemical agents had been used.
Less clear perhaps is whether a similar red line would apply to Syrian opposition groups such as Al-Nusra by the US and NATO allies. Author and historian Gerald Horne, for one, told RT that there are greater political dynamics at work.

“Well, one would think so, but of course we know that the United States along with its NATO partners Britain and France are quite close to the main backers of the rebels — I’m speaking of Saudi Arabia and Qatar. We know, for example, according to the Financial Times that Mr Sarkozy, the former president of France, is in very close financial relationship with the Qataris,” says Horne.
That would be under the existing paragraph in the story: US President Barack Obama has warned any confirmed use of chemical weapons by Damascus would cross a “red line” which would prompt further action. Both Washington and London claimed there was growing evidence that such chemical agents had been used.
This case being similar to an earlier one, with the findings of UN chemical weapons expert Carla Del Ponte  – who had found evidence of their use by the rebels – some think the fallout will be what it was then as well.
Journalist and RT contributor, Afshin Rattansi believes that the same fate will befall this story, as far as media coverage goes. All possible doubts will either be hushed or directed elsewhere, as they were toward Del Ponte’s findings.
“Carla Del Ponte – one of the greatest experts on this from the United Nations – did do an in-depth investigation only a few weeks ago, and of course, the mainstream media tried their best to ignore it and to character-assassinate Del Ponte… she did masses of work on this, and [found] It was the rebels and not the government.”
Rattansi goes on to say that “the news management of the Syria story has been incredibly sophisticated, and I don’t think it will be on the front pages of any newspapers in Britain or the United States – it will quietly disappear like Del Ponte’s case. The big story, of course, will be Russia and the delivery of the S-300.”
A day before the Reyhanli bombing, Erdogan released a statement claiming he had evidence the Syrian government had had used chemical weapons, crossing the red line set by President Obama. The accusation contradicted a statement made at the time by a leading UN investigator.Carla Del Ponte, who heads
The Independent International Commission of Inquiry on Syria, said there were “concrete suspicions but not yet incontrovertible proof of the use of sarin gas” in Syria.
“This was use on the part of the opposition, the rebels, not by the government authorities,” Del Ponte continued.
Exposure to large quantities of sarin gas, whose production and stockpiling was outlawed by the Chemical Weapons Convention of 1993, causes convulsions, paralysis, loss of respiratory functions and potentially death.

IRS continues to hound Tea Party Patriots
By Washington Times (DC) August 30, 2013 12:25 pm

The initial firestorm surrounding the Internal Revenue Service’s targeting of conservative groups may have subsided, but tea party leaders say the situation has only become worse and may lead to more lawsuits against the embattled agency.
New documents show the depth of information the IRS is seeking from Tea Party Patriots, a leading conservative group that first applied for 501(c)(4) tax-exempt status in late 2010 and one of many organizations singled out for extra scrutiny by the Obama administration.
An IRS letter sent to the group last week and obtained by The Washington Times contains a laundry list of requests related to virtually all the group’s activities, including its involvement in the 2012 election cycle and its get-out-the-vote efforts, fundraising activities, all radio and TV advertising, and other information.
The IRS also is asking for detailed financial records, including “the amounts and percentages of your total expenses that were for fundraising activities in the tax year 2011, 2012 and 2013.”
The Aug. 20 request came as a shock to Tea Party Patriots, which said it already has provided to the IRS extensive information on all of its activities and thinks it is long past time to receive a “yes” or “no” answer.
The letter also is proof that, while President Obama and other liberals have referred to the situation as a “phony scandal,” conservative organizations still are targets, said Cleta Mitchell, a Washington, D.C., lawyer representing the Tea Party Patriots and several other conservative groups.
“This is tantamount to an audit. This is the continuation of the same thing they’ve been doing for four years. They have not stopped,” she said Thursday. “Tea Party Patriots has responded to all of the requests of the IRS to date, but that has gotten us nowhere. They just keep asking more questions. We are now looking at potential legal remedies, but that’s not easy. Congress has made it quite difficult to sue the IRS.”
The letter, according to the IRS, is simply an attempt to gather information necessary for the agency to determine whether the Tea Party Patriots is eligible for tax-exempt status under current law. Meeting the tax-exempt criteria requires that a group’s “primary” function and activities not be political in nature.
Since news of the IRS targeting scandal broke this spring, the agency also argues that it has made significant progress in sifting through a backlog of groups — including the Tea Party Patriots — that have been waiting years for a decision.
As of last week, the IRS said, it has closed 64 percent of outstanding cases and approved 65 of 85 organizations for 501(c)(4) status.
But for the groups still awaiting approval, last week’s letter represents nothing more than a delaying tactic, said Jenny Beth Martin, president and co-founder of the Tea Party Patriots.
Reviewing information on the group’s activities in the 2012 election cycle pushes an IRS decision even farther down the road. It also raises the possibility that the organization’s future efforts, including in the upcoming 2014 political contests, also will be subject to detailed review as part of a never-ending approval process.
“What that letter said to me is, ‘We got away with discriminating against you and we’re not stopping.’ [The letter] comes as a complete surprise,” Ms. Martin said.
On Thursday, the IRS said it couldn’t comment specifically on the Tea Party Patriots case, but did defend its information-gathering efforts and argued that it has made great strides in its tax-exempt approval process.
“There are instances when IRS must seek more information before we can determine if an organization’s application for tax-exempt status meets the necessary legal requirements,” the agency said in a statement. “Effort and care has been taken to limit the number and nature of these follow-up questions to focus only on the information that we need in order to properly evaluate the application.”
The agency also referred back to an Aug. 9 statement from acting IRS Commissioner Danny Werfel, who said that political campaign intervention will be reviewed without regard to specific “labels,” indicating that tea party or other conservative groups no longer will face extra scrutiny.
In its attempts to clear the backlog of agencies awaiting tax-exempt status, the IRS in June — after news of its political targeting had come to light — offered a deal to organizations such as the Tea Party Patriots.
In exchange for agreeing that no more than 40 percent of its “spending and time” would be related to political campaigns, a group’s tax-exempt application would be expedited.
The Tea Party Patriots has yet to accept that deal, and Ms. Martin said it has no intention of doing so.
“I’m being punished because I didn’t take them up on their made-up expedited process,” she said.
Twenty-nine applicants have taken part in that process in recent months, according to the IRS.

Georgia black teen found guilty of murdering baby in stroller

By Associated Press August 31, 2013 6:50
MARIETTA, Georgia — An 18-year-old man was convicted of murder in the shooting of a baby who was riding in a stroller alongside his mother in a town in coastal Georgia.
Jurors deliberated about two hours before finding De’Marquise Elkins guilty in the March 21 killing of 13-month-old Antonio Santiago in Brunswick. The man’s mother, Karimah Elkins, was on trial alongside him and was found guilty of tampering with evidence but acquitted of lying to police.
De’Marquise Elkins’ attorney asked for bond for his client while they appealed, which a judge denied.
Prosecutors said Elkins killed Antonio in an attempted robbery. The baby’s mother, Sherry West, also was shot.
Another teen, 15-year-old Dominique Lang, is also charged with murder in the case and is set to be tried later.
Sherry West testified during the two-week trial that she was walking home from the post office with 13-month-old Antonio Santiago in a stroller on the morning of March 21. She said a gunman demanding her purse shot her baby in the face after she told him she had no money.
Prosecutors said 18-year-old De’Marquise Elkins and an accomplice, 15-year-old Dominique Lang, are the ones who stopped West. Prosecutors say the older teen pointed a small .22-caliber revolver at West and demanded money. When West refused several times to turn over the money, Elkins fired a warning shot and then shot West in the leg and shot the baby between the eyes, prosecutors said.
The killing in the port city of Brunswick drew national attention, and the trial was moved to the Atlanta suburb of Marietta because of the extensive publicity locally.
Prosecutors have said information from Elkins’ mother and sister led investigators to a pond where they found the revolver. Karimah Elkins’ sister also was charged with evidence tampering.

Krauthammer: Appeasing the Vanity and Ego of a President Who’s Become a Laughingstock Around the World Is No Reason to Go to War By Clash Daily / 30 August 2013 / 37

Comments   Watch video on foxnation.com Having leaked to the world, and thus to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, a detailed briefing of the coming U.S. air attack on Syria — (1) the source (offshore warships and perhaps a bomber or two), (2) the weapon (cruise missiles), (3) the duration (two or three days), (4) the purpose (punishment, not “regime change”) — perhaps we should be publishing the exact time the bombs will fall, lest we disrupt dinner in Damascus. So much for the element of surprise. Into his third year of dithering, two years after declaring Assad had to go, one year after drawing — then erasing — his own red line on chemical weapons, Barack Obama has been stirred to action. Or more accurately, shamed into action. Which is the worst possible reason. A president doesn’t commit soldiers to a war for which he has zero enthusiasm. Nor does one go to war for demonstration purposes. Want to send a message? Call Western Union. A Tomahawk missile is for killing. A serious instrument of war demands a serious purpose. The purpose can be either punitive or strategic: either a spasm of conscience that will inflame our opponents yet leave not a trace, or a considered application of abundant American power to alter the strategic equation that is now heavily favoring our worst enemies in the heart of the Middle East. There are risks to any attack. Blowback terror from Syria and its terrorist allies. Threatened retaliation by Iran or Hezbollah on Israel — that could lead to a guns-of-August regional conflagration. Moreover, a mere punitive pinprick after which Assad emerges from the smoke intact and emboldened would demonstrate nothing but U.S. weakness and ineffectiveness. In 1998, after al-Qaeda blew up two U.S. embassies in Africa, Bill Clinton lobbed a few cruise missiles into empty tents in Afghanistan. That showed ’em. Read more: washingtonpost.com

JORGE AGUILAR: Are you a homeowner “IGNORANT” or “IDIOT” hope not ?

Don’t let Miami-Dade County politicians, Government Unions and the Miami Herald the local media enabler INCREASE YOUR PROPERTY TAX for the benefit of the Special Interest.  Get involve or pay the consequences.
Recently Miami-Dade County Government made an attempt to increase your homestead property tax  tacitly  endorsed by many Miami Herald articles. The property tax promoted failed due to large public opposition although the usual scare tactics of closing libraries and laying off firefighter was used. And while the proposed increase in property tax was abandoned and the closing of libraries and laying of firefighter did not happen either. That  comes to show to the citizens of  Miami-Dade County that the scare tactics are a ‘FARCE” which are used only by the special interest groups for public ignorance consumption.
But property owners be ware of the amount of ” TAXES AND FEES” coming next year. Miami-Dade County Unions want pay free healthcare insurance while the average worker and businesses in the private sector pays their fair share. Local government unions also have paid union representatives that only do union worker paid with tax dollars for the benefit of the union special interest. Unions are returning to their unreasonable demands of the past at the expense of increasing your homestead property tax. Soon Miami-Dade County will increase water fees and or taxes to cover the cost of a large upgrading of the water and sewer system probably next year. All of this will happen while the federal government implements Obamacare and the new monthly cost increase that will bring to many, including social security retirees. New highway/expressway toll increases were implemented this year as we all know. New billions of dollars were approved for pubic schools with public approval. But this bonds and their interest will have to be paid with more tax increases or fees. There is even new tax for dogs/cats looming to be implemented next year as well.
Miami-Dade County property owner better get involve or South Florida could very well become one of the most heavily taxed and fee place while is also one of the poorest counties/cities in the nation. The double standard between local government benefits, pension and salaries vs the private sector is becoming immense . The time to stand up and speak is now otherwise we could have another Chicago or Detroit in the making here. The homestead of the Miami-Dade County working family must be protected from future property tax increases if we are to prosper. Otherwise, families and workers will have to adjust their budget with cuts to monthly subscription, restaurants, cable, gym etc AND ALL OF THIS MEANS MORE LOCAL ECONOMIC PROBLEMS FOR THE LOCAL ECONOMY.

MIAMI-DADE COUNTYPay restored, for some› Six collective-bargaining units had asked for an end to the slew of concessions workers have made. Dade commissioners agreed only on one.BY PATRICIA MAZZEI pmazzei@MiamiHerald.com ?   After a day of hearing from public workers having trouble making ends meet, Miami-Dade commissioners decided Thursday to end a contentious concession from employees — but only for those who help pick up the county’s garbage.    Most of the rest of the nearly 26,000 employees will be forced to keep contributing 5 percent of their base pay toward group healthcare costs. And they all will have to continue making a slew of other benefit concessions.    Commissioners made the exception after hearing from emotional solid-waste workers from the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees Local 3292, which has 637 members. Several of the workers wept as they recounted facing home foreclosures and other financial strife.    One employee said he had to choose this month between paying his mortgage or buying school clothes for his daughters.    “Let us live like human beings and not scaven- gers,” said a teary Stefanie Brown, a garbage-truck driver and union secretary. County records show she makes nearly $56,000 a year.

Who controls the intelligence services

By Dark PolitricksA recent bomb in Iran that killed 42 people, mainly Iranian Republican guards has been blamed on Jundullah the terrorist organisation that some claim is controlled by the CIA. This organisation is supposedly being used by the USA as a front in its hidden agenda to topple the Iranian government from within by destabilising the country through terrorist activities.Even though the Americans deny all responsibility and deny links to this proscribed organisation a former CIA officer has gone on record to admit that they have ties to the group. We must also remember that in the last years of George Bushes presidency he authorised the use of clandestine activities inside Iran in an attempt to topple the current ruling regime. We must also remember that the US has history of overthrowing Iranian regimes and it installed its own puppet the Shah in 1953 to prevent Iran becoming another communist regime. However no matter what misguided intentions Eisenhower had at the time, this coup d’état by the CIA led to a strong arm ruler who the Iranian people despised and overthrew themselves twenty odd years later during the Iranian revolution. Even though President Obama recently apologised for this past behaviour during his speech in Cairo the Iranian people distrust the Americans, British and western world in general and with good reason. For those of you interested in the current dark politricks that are being engaged by the US and the UK against Iran you should check out this site that has collated numerous policy documentsrelated to the propaganda war being used to ready the public for a potential armed conflict: www.globalpolicy.orgWe also have to remember that the world has a long history of our “intelligence” services either creating terrorist organisations from scratch or controlling them from withinthrough the use of plants, informers or double agents. This was normal practise during the cold war and the KGB, CIA and MI6 utilised many of the “dark arts” to overthrow many a government as well as assassinate more than a few government ministers or popular leaders. Now the cold war has supposedly ended these agencies require a new enemy to justify the millions assigned to their budgets otherwise their own existence could be threatened. I mean if theworld was actually at peace that would mean there would have to be some redudancies at the companies for death and destruction by dark means, what a horrible thought!Terrorist organisations are the perfect new enemy for this century as they generate the necessary fear in the public required for governments to spend that sort of money and they are an enemy that cannot be beaten by conventional means. How do we know when the war on terror has been won? Who will sit down with the NATO generals and sign a peace treaty or accept terms of surrender? No-one thats who and that is why this war will probably never end as there will always be some group of people that can be designated as terrorists so that the war can continue. These terrorist groups are also the new targets of the intelligence agencies to practise their dark artson creating splinter groups, infiltrating and controlling from within by nefarious means. For those that still doubt this we need only look at recent history of British Military Intelligence infiltration and control ofassassination squads in the IRA through their mole codenamed stakeknife, and how the KLA (Kosovan Liberation Army), aterrorist organisation also supported by Usama Bin Laden was used by the west against Serbia. The USA trained terrorists to fight the Russians inAfghanistan which then became Al Qaeda and the CIA and the ISI created the Taliban. Terrorist groups and intelligence services go hand in hand and I doubt that there isn’t one major terrorist group that does not contain members under thecontrol of one or more intelligence services. There is plenty of evidence available to confirm all these points so please do your own research if the links are not enough to get you started. We also have agencies engaging in terrorist actsthemselves without even going through their terrorist proxies. We have the Russian FSB blowing up apartment blocks which were blamed on Chechen rebels and brought Putin to power. We also have claims that the FBI told their informer inside the group which attacked the twin towers in 1993 to NOT change thebomb material to a safer substance and therefore if true would mean that the FBI were responsible for the 6 people who died.We also have a long history of Mossad committing false flag operations to blame on Islamic terrorist groups or countries and a recent example would be the two Israeli agents caught with explosives and pistols in the Mexican congress planning to blow it up and then blame it on Bin Laden. Therefore when we look at the link between terrorist organisations and the intelligence services at large and pieces of evidence that link the two together in the kind of link that I am sure governments would like to keep quiet the question we must ask ourselves is who actually controls our intelligence services? Are there rogue elements within these agencies that are controlled by people other than the specified chain of commandor are the services themselves actually a tool of a deep state that is unseen and not answerable to a government controlled by elected parliamentarians? For if these acts being carried out by the services were actually sanctioned by those we elected then it means that these illegal murderous acts are being carried out in our name. When one looks at the awesome power that could be directed through control of such organisations one can only wonder if they only act under orders that benefit the country they represent or whether in fact they are a law unto themselves or even worse a tool controlled by those with evil intent.http://www.darkpolitricks.com/2009/10/who-controls-the-intelligence-services/

Black Conservatism: Face of Courage in Our Day By Clash Daily / 31 August 2013 / 9 Comments by Brittany Pounders Clash Daily Guest Contributor Standing up for what you believe in is easy when everyone in your circle of friends stands and agrees with you.  Standing up for what you believe in when it’s not only unpopular in your circle of friends and family, but completely vilified by all of your peers?  Well, that takes courage…an inordinate amount of courage. The black community has been a dependable and faithful voting block for the Democrat party for years because Democrats have shrouded control under the guise of charity.  Instead of preaching empowerment- they preach entitlement.  Creating a class of people dependent on government support assures Democrats of votes at each go around.  Why?  Because nobody ever votes themselves out of entitlements. Not all of them though.  In fact, I have a handful of good, strong friends that I have worked closely within the GOP that have never allowed their skin color to dictate their votes.  They broke away from their community and in many cases, their families, in the last two elections and did something courageous.  They didn’t vote for Obama– declaring publicly that content of character was far more important than the color of his skin. The hateful vitriol that black conservatives have to deal with from those within the left wing party leaves me shocked and sickened and anyone who actually cares to watch can see what happens to people within the black community who break away from the Democratic party.  For example: When the Borellis, who are employees of the conservative group FreedomWorks, attempted to pay for booth space at this year’s 104th National NAACP conference in Florida, they were told there was no room for them despite plenty of exhibit space remaining open. The NAACP website states that the mission of the organization is to, “ensure the political, educational, social, and economic equality of rights of all persons and to eliminate race-based discrimination.” The objectives of the NAACP include ensuring “the political, educational, social, and economic equality of all citizens,” and removing “all barriers of racial discrimination through democratic processes.” Stacy Dash, for example, proved that the Democrat party is the party of “choice” only as long as you make their choice.  Tolerance is a one way street with the liberal left.  When you make a decision, by tweeting your support for a Republican candidate, you better take cover because it sets off a firestorm of hate in epic proportions.  Dash was called “an indoor slave “(quite possibly the nicest insult I read on her), had threats on her life, and was accused of voting for a “white devil.” … Read the Rest at: at Liberty Juice Brittany Pounders is Co-Founder of http://www.LibertyJuice.com and has been an active proponent for the conservative movement in Fort Bend County and the State of Texas.
